Monthly Newsletter Supporting the Advancement of Amateur Radio June 2004

Brian Carter, KCØDWX

The May meeting for MAARS was held at Fred and Dona-Rose Hackerott's house on Friday, May 14th in preparation for the garage sale which was held on the 15th. Thank you to all those members who participated in my absence.

Our next meeting will be held on June the 11th, back at the usual location of 2601 Anderson, and the usual time of 7:30 P.M. The primary purpose of the meeting will be to make plans for Field Day, which will be held on the 26th and 27th of this month. The location decided on was Pott. Co. State fishing lake number 1, which is north of Westmoreland, KS. The location allows for camping and cooking out. Anyone with input on the subject should attend the meeting and feel free to share your ideas.

We will tentatively plan on having dinner at the Sirloin Stockade in Manhattan at 5:30 before the normal meeting. We have had some interest in changing this location or moving it from place to place, but I have received very little feedback on the subject. Please offer your opinion if you are one of the people who do or would like to join us for dinner before the meeting. I can be reached at

I hope to see you all at the meeting.

NEW FROM ARRL - Beginning October 1, 2001, our club will receive $15 for each new member joining the ARRL through our club. This is for new members or those who have not been a member for two or more years. There will be no commission for renewals but we still may submit your renewals, if you wish. Since the club retains the dues, it is necessary for you to write your check to MAARS, and then the treasurer writes a check to ARRL.

Dues will be due by Oct. 31 and are: regular membership $20, full-time student $10, family $30. Please complete the following when renewing your membership, even if you did so last year. Return to the Treasurer, at a meeting or to MAARS, P. O. Box 613, Manhattan, KS 66505-0613. If you are currently receiving both the email and paper copy of the newsletter, please consider just receiving the email copy. It will save the club $5-6.00 per year per copy.
